Hair restoration (Oakland studio)

Our services stimulate natural hair growth, strengthens follicles, and improves scalp health for thicker, fuller hair.

Discussing hair treatments can be deeply personal, which is why we approach every consultation with discretion and compassion —ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.

Scalp & hair exam

Our consultation includes a physical examination and looks at the root causes of hair loss—hormones, stress, scalp health, and lifestyle. You'll get a personalized plan that may include scalp treatments, growth support, or prescriptions to restore healthy hair from the inside out.

Keravive Hydrafacial treatment

A relaxing scalp treatment that deeply cleanses, exfoliates, and nourishes the scalp using growth factors. We combine it with LED therapy and scalp massage—promoting healthier hair, improved circulation, and reduced buildup for a refreshed, balanced scalp environment.

Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling with PRP stimulates hair growth by creating micro-injuries in the scalp and applying platelet-rich plasma to boost healing, circulation, and follicle activity. It’s a natural, regenerative treatment ideal for thinning hair and early-stage hair loss.

PRP injections

PRP scalp injections use your body’s own platelet-rich plasma to stimulate hair growth, strengthen follicles, and improve scalp health. This regenerative treatment is ideal for early hair loss, offering a natural way to boost thickness and slow shedding.

 FAQs

  • Understanding the cause of hair loss is essential in determining the best treatment approach. Hair loss can happen for many reasons, including:

    • Genetics (Androgenetic Alopecia):
The most common cause of hair thinning in both men and women.

    • Scalp Health Issues:
Poor circulation, buildup, or inflammation can negatively impact hair follicles.

    • Stress:
Chronic stress or illness can trigger excessive shedding (telogen effluvium).

    • Hormonal Imbalances:
Conditions like PCOS, thyroid disorders, and postpartum changes.

    • Autoimmune Conditions:
Alopecia areata can cause patchy hair loss.

    • Damage Due to Styling:
Traction alopecia is hair loss caused by tight hairstyles.

    • Nutritional Deficiencies:
Low levels of iron, vitamin D, biotin, or protein can weaken hair growth.

  • It’s important to understand that hair growth takes time and consistency—results don’t happen overnight. Hair grows in a natural cycle with three phases: the anagen phase (active growth), the catagen phase (a short transitional phase), and the telogen phase (resting and shedding). Because of this cycle, you may not see visible improvement right away—it often takes 3 to 6 months or longer to notice changes.

  • Minoxidil®
Minoxidil is FDA-approved for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) and works by promoting increased blood flow to the hair follicles. This enhanced circulation helps to stimulate hair growth and extends the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle. Some common side effects can include swelling in the hands, feet, or ankles due to fluid retention, dizziness, increased heart rate, headaches, and unwanted hair growth in areas other than the scalp.

    Spironolactone
Spironolactone is an androgen blocker commonly prescribed to women experiencing hormonal hair loss, such as those with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). It works by reducing the effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone that can shrink hair follicles and lead to thinning. Potential side effects may include increased urination, dizziness, breast tenderness, and menstrual irregularities.

    Finasteride (Propecia®)
Finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that works by blocking DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone linked to hair thinning and male pattern baldness. While primarily prescribed for men, it can be used off-label in women but is not recommended for women of childbearing age due to potential teratogenic risks (birth defects). Possible side effects include reduced libido, mood changes, and erectile dysfunction, all of which are reversible.

If you are currently taking anti-hypertensive medications, it’s important to check with your primary care physician (PCP) or cardiologist before starting these treatments, as certain medications may interact with hair loss treatments. We can prescribe these treatments and will closely monitor your progress to ensure the medication is working effectively while tracking any potential side effects. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs to achieve the best possible results.

  • Some clients may experience mild discomfort during microneedling, but a topical anesthetic is typically used to alleviate pain. The scalp may feel sensitive for a day or two after the procedure.

  • Side effects often include temporary redness, swelling, or minor bruising at the injection area. These effects typically resolve within a few days.

  • This treatment can complement other therapies, such as topical hair growth solutions or oral medications, for enhanced results.

  • Most providers suggest 3 to 6 treatments every 4 to 6 weeks, with touch-up sessions every 6 to 12 months for maintenance.

  • Individuals with severe hair loss or underlying medical conditions affecting hair growth may not benefit from this treatment. A consultation can help determine eligibility based on your specific condition.

  • Generally, one session takes about 60 to 90 minutes, including preparation and post-treatment care. However, this may vary based on the area being treated.
